Making the Time!
I have several little music projects to complete, but always seem to be doing something else. :) I think I will make a list of projects in the works, and start going through them one-by-one. My "recording studio" consists of my laptop, a digital...

  • I went through all my Garage Band projects today - deleted 14 projects. This will help me focus on the remaining ones. First up is to re-record a piece I co-wrote (wrote a flute part to someone else's piano composition). Need to adjust mic settings and/or the position of my flute in regards to the mic. I've successfully recorded with my flute before ... but I need to write down some specifics so that I can replicate them when I record. My goal is to finish the project before next weekend ... which probably means doing it tomorrow.  :)

  • I didn't work on the flute/piano piece today, but did make some progress on another project on my list.

  • Back to my flute/piano piece today. I set the back of my Snowball mic to 3 (omni), and placed the mic just above the middle of my flute, getting the flute very close to the mic. There may be a better way, but it's a big improvement over the last recording. Definitely helped to get very close.
