Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova has created a fascinating series portraying childhood memories painted across various vintage open faced books. Carefully aligned, the books create a large canvas in a series titled Errata Corrige. Panikanova applies her dark toned paints across the multiple volumes.
More like installations than paintings, there is a mysterious three-dimensionality to her work as the pages flow freely and add not only layers, but also a sense of texture to the piece. The series creates a metaphor of childhood - Everyone holds a storage of images, traumas and experiences that they carry with them all their lives.
